The History Behind The Magnificent Construction Taj

Stands as a gem in the northern part of India, the Taj Mahal is located on the bank of the gorgeous river Yamuna in Agra. One of the Seven Wonders of the World, Taj Mahal is the mesmerizing monument that stands as a symbol of eternal love. The magnificent construction was the idea of the great Mughal ruler Shah Jahan and was constructed in the memory of his cherished wife Arjumand Banu Begum who died giving birth to the 14th child.

The outstanding construction is an example of Mughal architecture and one can see Persian and Islamic artwork. More than 20000 workers from various parts of the world and 1000 elephants worked under the supervision of Ustad Ahmad Lahauri for 22 years to complete the stunning construction. Along with the marvelous designer, Ismail Afandi of the Ottoman Empire acted as a chief calligrapher and worked every second to fulfill the wish of the great emperor Shah Jahan in between 1631 and 1653. Starting from the external appeal till the interiors, each and every part was commissioned particularly and was designed which makes this a magnificent construction of India to date. Even after completing 350 years the monument reveals the art and architecture of the craftsmen and even stands expressing the love of Shah Jahan towards his adorable wife Mumtaz.

Designated as a heritage site by UNESCO in 1983 this most beautiful Mughal construction was constructed using various precious and semi-precious materials and stones from various corners of the world. Materials used for completing the mausoleum are brought from various parts of India, China, Europe, and other parts of Asia. The white marble marvel even has a few precious stones that came from Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Tiber, Afghanistan, and a few other parts of the world. The intricate designs that made the monument an exceptional one include turquoise, sapphire, jade, crystal, lapis, amethyst, and a few more. The domed structure reflects a unique beauty in sunlight and even different appeals in the moonlight due to the unusual style of construction by the artisans. The dome, mansions, and the inscriptions on the walls made this construction a unique one which reflects the taste of the art of the Mughals.

Numerous poets, writers, and famous personalities praised the art and the construction style of the splendid monument and Rabindra Nath Tagore defined it as Tear on the Face of Eternity. The beauty of the Taj Mahal earned numerous people who love witnessing the culture and heritage of ancient India. But after the construction of the spectacular construction, Shah Jahan was house arrested till death by his own son Aurangzeb. The symbol of eternal was neglected by the late 19th century due to which it lost its glory due to the attacks. Later it earned a new appeal under the supervision of the British viceroy Lord Curzon, who enhanced the garden and carefully completed the restoration. In 1908 the lovely construction Taj gained its old glory with a few new appealing decorations. The white marble monument attracts the attention of the people from all over the world with its alluring beauty.
