This park, once known as Lady Willingdon Park, was developed in 1936 by the British and was later renamed Lodi Gardens after India’s independence. It contains structures of the 15th & 16th century such as the Mausoleum of Muhammad Shah Sayyid and Sikandar Lodhi who were notable monarchs of their reign. It is located in Delhi near Khan Market and was renovated in 1968 with a glass house, lake, and specialized gardens; however, the park is a historical site in Delhi undergoing progressive restoration by the Archaeological Survey of India at the moment.

Bara Gumbad | It is a huge square tomb constructed in 1490 and has exquisite stucco work and paintings ; it is considered to be a gateway tomb situated near to northeast of the tomb of Mohammed Shah. |
Sheesh Gumbad | This tomb designed with Hindu-Islamic architecture with a touch of blue-tinted dome, is dominated by floral themes and Quranic text located right opposite Bara Gumbad in Lodi Gardens. |
Flora and Fauna | Lodi Gardens’ facilities include a rose garden, a central lake, and a greenhouse within several species of trees. It is also the habitat of many varieties of birds including parakeets, mynahs as well as hornbills. |
Lodi Gardens is open to the public each day of the week but with different operational timings. From April to September, the gardens are accessible from 5:00 am to 8:00pm. while from October to March they open from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. It is absolutely free and open for everyone because there isn’t an entry fee.
Reaching Lodi Gardens is easier by road or through the metro. The nearest metro station available is Jorbagh on the yellow line (Samaypur Badli to Huda City Centre) which is only 1 Km away. However, another feasible station is JLN metro station on the violet line of Delhi metro which connects Raja Nahar Singh and Kashmere Gate, which is 1.4km from the garden. Local city buses, auto rickshaws or taxis can also be taken by visitors to get to this historical place without a lot of hassle.
