Gadsisar Lake was built by Maharawal Gadsi in the 14th century, this scenic rain water lake is not an oasis but a water conservation tank. Unbelievably, this structure, because of its ability to automatically retain rainwater, was a reservoir that controlled the entire supply of water to the arid city.
The beautiful gateway that arches across the road down to the Lake was built by a royal courtesan named Tillon in the end of 19th century, known as Tilon Ki pol (Gate of Tilon). Lord Vishnu's statue was installed in the year 1908 A.D. on the gate by the courtesan & declared Krishna Temple to save it from demolition by the then Maharawal.
