Vyas Chhatri is a cenotaph in memory of sage Vyas, who wrote Mahabharat. There are other cenotaphs too dedicated to the maharajas of Rajasthan. It has many beautiful carvings made of yellow sandstone. These carvings tell us the life story of sage Vyas and served as burial grounds for Rajasthan kings and brahmins.
It is a piece of art that even the most talented minds would be left wondering about the architectural marvel of this structure. Tourists flock to Vyas Chhatri for the beautiful scene it offers during the sunset. For this reason, this structure is also known as Sunset Point because the viewers can get a glimpse of the whole city from here.
Jaisalmer Raja built this beautiful structure in Rajput architectural style. Vyas Chhatri houses various temples and has intricate carvings. It would help if you went to the terrace to glimpse the whole desert spread before you! You can enjoy the horizon that resonates with the sound of the night with the desert as a backdrop. Vyas Chhatri is a yellow sandstone structure that showcases a perfect blend of Hindu and Muslim architectural styles.
The weather will be pleasant, during winter in Vyas chhatri and you can enjoy it with your loved ones. October to March would be ideal as the temperature here would range between 5 degrees to 25 degrees. Summer is a bad idea as this place is near the desert.
It opens for public visits at 8 AM and closes at 7.30 PM. You can buy the entry ticket for Rs. 100, and if you love snapping, you need to pay an extra Rs.100 for clicking photos.
