Some say the prime minister of Jaisalmer during 1815 -Salim Singh- had an eye on the Paliwal Brahmin girl. He threatened them that the marriage would happen at any cost. The inhabitants of the village reluctantly borrowed some time to finalise the wedding. Instead of contemplating their wedding, they fled, fearing the evil incarnate's wicked actions.

He was known for his wickedness and for collecting exorbitant taxes. Since he underwent the childhood trauma of seeing his father executed by the royals, he lived with a heart filled with hatred towards the ruling class. Another tale tells that he levied heavy taxes on these Brahmins, and to escape from his evil plans, they fled to an unknown place. Many unusual things happen here, and it has gained the name Ghost City. This place is a ghost hunter's paradise.
