Some say the prime minister of
Jaisalmer during 1815 -Salim Singh- had an eye on the Paliwal Brahmin girl. He threatened them that the marriage would happen at any cost. The inhabitants of the village reluctantly borrowed some time to finalise the wedding. Instead of contemplating their wedding, they fled, fearing the evil incarnate's wicked actions.
He was known for his wickedness and for collecting exorbitant taxes. Since he underwent the childhood trauma of seeing his father executed by the royals, he lived with a heart filled with hatred towards the ruling class. Another tale tells that he levied heavy taxes on these Brahmins, and to escape from his evil plans, they fled to an unknown place. Many unusual things happen here, and it has gained the name Ghost City. This place is a ghost hunter's paradise.

The archaeological department takes care of the remnants of the Kuldhara village site. It has become a tourist site along the vast dunes in Jaisalmer. It is a site worth visiting as you can see the ancient cultural practices of the Paliwal Brahmins. It is a place suited for photography where you can take a click of the 85 tiny hamlets.
The houses in this spot are almost crumbled and tell the sad tale of the inhabitants there. This site houses a temple with a beautiful mother goddess culture in the centre. Multiple inscriptions indicate Paliwal Brahmins might have lived here before deserting this place. The archaeologists captured information about the devastated place from the inscriptions in this place.

This haunted village is open from 8 AM to 6 PM, and after sunset, no visitors are allowed as this place is famous for paranormal activities. You need to pay only Rs. 10 to enter Kuldhara village and if you are there with your car, the fee is Rs.100.

The best time to visit this place would be during winter as this place lies in the desert region. Summer would be a bad idea as the temperature would soar to 42 degrees.
