BSF has resumed public observation of the Attari-Wagah withdrawal event, with a limit of 300 people permitted.
The Border Security Force (BSF) has resumed public observation of the daily flag-lowering retreat ritual at the Attari-Wagah border in Punjab with minimal limitations, more than a year and a half after it was halted owing to the Covid epidemic, the force announced on Friday.
In comparison to its capacity of more than 25,000, BSF will let 300 guests in the spectator's gallery for the over-an-hour-long daily event. India halted public viewing on March 7 in order to control the spread of the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Amritsar Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Khaira stated that the event has not yet been formally opened.
“The BSF action would not deter thousands of tourists from congregating there every day in the expectation of becoming one of the lucky 300 to gain entrance inside the exhibition. Even if 300 people were chosen in advance by some mechanism, it would be very difficult to restrict the flow of visitors to Attari. Already, car and taxi drivers have begun bringing visitors to Attari on false promises,” an official who requested anonymity stated.
For many years, India and Pakistan have hosted nightly flag-lowering rituals at the Attari-Wagah border, which is attended by a large number of people from both nations as well as international citizens.
