1. MEHRANGARH FORT

        Mehrangarh Fort, spread across 1200 acres of area, is one of the largest and finest palaces in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The palace is situated on the hilltop approximately 122 meters above the plain. It was built by the Rajput ruler, Rao Jodha and it has served as the headquarters for the Rathores for five generations. It represented great power and prestige. Apart from being a military base, Mehrangarh was a palace for the rulers and their wives. The palace has many beautifully crafted buildings that represent Indian culture, art, music, literature. These buildings have now turned into museums showcasing the lives of ancestors of the Rathore clan.

2. UMAID BHAWAN PALACE

Umaid Bhawan is one of the largest private residences located in Rajasthan. Named after Maharaja Umaid Singh, the palace has 347 rooms and a part of the palace is supervised under Taj Hotels. Today, it is one of the best hotels in India. Your trip to Rajasthan is incomplete without Umaid Bhawan.

The palace is divided into three parts namely:-

  • Palace (residence of the royal family) - Spread across 26 acres of land, the palace consists of a private meeting hall, banquet hall, dining halls, a ballroom, swimming pool, library, spa, tennis courts, squash courts, and billiards room. The area is crafted in royal style and western decor.
  • Hotel- The hotel is managed by Taj Group of Hotels. It has 64 guest rooms and a royal suite of the king.

3.  JASWANT THADA

Also known as the Taj Mahal of Marwar, it was built in the memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh by his son. Located a half kilometer away from Mehrangarh Fort, it is built with white marble and represents the spectacular architecture of the Rajput era. It is constructed like a temple with beautiful jalis. Jaswant Thada consists of the following parts:-

  • A multi-tiered garden
  • Beautiful terrace
  • A small pond

4. MANDORE GARDENS

Mandore Garden is a beautiful tourist spot with royal cenotaphs that attract visitors for its architectural infrastructure. The garden has beautiful green trees and a serene environment. It has small lakes which have small birds and fish. 

It is the collection of memorials and temples of the Marwar dynasty whose architectural style is very impressive. The most attractive part of Mandore Gardens is the Royal Cenotaphs or Chhatris made of red stone. Its interiors represent the legacy of Hindu architecture.

The clock tower is the oldest tower in Jodhpur that holds a huge clock built in the 19th century. It is a famous landmark and an important tourist attraction in Jodhpur built by Maharaja Sardar Singh. There is a market, called the Sardar market or the Clock Tower market, near the clock tower that attracts many tourists to the place. There are more than 7000 shops in the market.
