Personally, I believe Delhi is a magnificent city. It is not just my home away from home, but it is also motivating and eternally interesting to me. Delhi, like Rome, is an immortal city. It is not only the capital of contemporary India, but it has also been the capital of at least seven earlier civilizations, each of which has left a trail of monuments. It's also a very green city, with vast, leafy boulevards crisscrossing it, and it's the country's cultural and political heart.
Now when people are visiting Delhi, tourists usually have a question in their mind, “How many days is Enough in Delhi?”. According to me, three days is the perfect amount of time that you need in Delhi.
Why Three days is Enough in Delhi?
The reason why I recommend three days to be enough in Delhi is that there are mainly three parts of Delhi.
Old Delhi is deteriorating and chaotic, formerly the majestic walled city of Shahjahanabad in the 17th century. With so many sights, sounds, and sensations to take in at once, this location is all about culture shock.
There's New Delhi, which was built by the British when they chose to establish a new capital in India. This section is all about dazzling buildings, government institutions, and a sense of order.
South Delhi, to the south, is an elite residential neighborhood that is calmer, quieter, and leafier than the rest of the city.
All three districts have a lot to offer tourists. I concluded that at least one day for each part would be enough and fun in Delhi. It is best if you start from Old Delhi, then new Delhi, and lastly South Delhi.
Old Delhi
For everyone visiting Delhi, the historic Mughal city of Shahjahanabad is a must-see. It consists of several smaller, unique neighborhoods spread throughout a big and crowded region. Unless you have additional time to spend, it's best to choose a few agenda things. There are gorgeous ancient mosques and absorbing bazaars, as well as a few peaceful sanctuaries among the hustle and bustle.
Some of the must-see places in Old Delhi that you can visit in one day are, Kinari Bazaar, Chandni Chowk, Red Fort, Daryaganj, etc. The best thing that you can do when in Old Delhi enjoys the food. There are a lot of different places to eat. Especially the street food.
New Delhi
New Delhi was inaugurated by the British for the service of the imperial capital and is the modern capital and seat of government. If you are planning on visiting New Delhi for your second day, there is a lot to see.
From the walks in India Gate to Lodhi garden, from praying in Akshardham to Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. Visiting Humayun’s tomb and admiring the architectural genius of the tomb. All these and much more to do in New Delhi.
India Gate is a military memorial dedicated to the 70,000 British Indian Army personnel who perished fighting in World War I. It's crowded with visitors, schoolchildren, and families enjoying picnics, as well as a slew of street merchants, but it's still an incredible edifice. Humayun's Tomb is sure to be one of the highlights of your visit to New Delhi.
South Delhi
History and photography fans will have a field day seeing the hundreds of monuments sprawled across this portion of Delhi, some going back millennia, such as the Qutub Minar, Lal Kot Fort, Jamali Kamali, Iron Fort, and others. South Delhi also has eccentric arts neighborhoods with galleries, cafés, and art stores where you may shop or window shop till you drop!
If you like nature, South Delhi is still the place to be. You may easily spend your day feasting your eyes on refreshing natural beauty because it is home to some of the country's most stunning and well-kept gardens such as 'The Garden of Five Senses,' Buddha Park, and others.
